DownWind SUP Foil Board
Description:
Sparrow’s Downwind Stand Up Design has become refined after many years of trial and error. The deck is flat and has a fairly straight deck rocker, while the bottom is flat through the tail and has just enough kick in the bow to keep the nose out of the water. The balance of foam distribution is ever so slightly forward emphasized to assist when digging in to paddle, but not so much that it resists forward planing. The tail is pinned off to a vee (much like a monohull racing sailboat) to reduce surface area and drag to give a quick, smooth lift off. The front section of the nose is rolled on the bottom to dislodge any stickiness for quick touchdowns, with a very slightly rolled midsection with tucked and rolled-forward rails, giving way to a flat tail area just in front of and around the mast with a little bit of edge to give stability. Sparrow has received years of feedback from experimentation to make this model what it is. All of our boards, including all foil boards are built in Hawaii, NOT overseas. We offer Hand Layup Carbon and Carbon Epoxy Ultra Light Vacuum Bagging as an option for these foil board models with differences in pricing according to the method desired. Check out our FAQ Section if you’re curious about the difference.
