SpaceTime Fish
Description:
This is Sparrow’s newer Fish design. Pulled from years of design modifications, this board is inspired by an early 2000’s, pluggy nugget-type fish. It has a wide tail block but shorter swallow cut into it, which is accompanied by a fairly parallel outline. The tail rocker is on the lower side while the nose rocker has a little extra kick out the last 10 inches. The rocker through the middle forward (before the kick) is extended to help make this a paddle machine and also to extend the sweet spot forward a bit. The rear half of the board features our StepDeck and a very slight hump (Like a vee double on the deck side) to give it that pre-settled feeling under the back foot. It can handle close to double overhead under the right feet and won’t feel like it’s too loose or going to slide out. It can drive fast down the line, and it can pivot to the top and snap if you want to get after it.
The recommended fin set up is 5 fin with keels up front and small 3 inch fins in the rear. It goes best as either a twin plus a trailer or twin plus quad trailers. It can be ridden really loose as a twin keel, but the Keel Thruster option or Keel Quad are what is most often desired. Those trailers give the board a touch more oomph while holding through turns or rifling down the line. This is generally ordered really short. If your “go to” performance shortboard is a 6’2 x 19 1/2 x 2 1/2, you might like a 5’7 x 20 1/4 x 2 3/4. Carbon Fiber or Standard Epoxy is a great choice for this model.
